The Université Loyola du Congo (ULC) offers a distinctive Jesuit education, integrating rigorous scientific and technical knowledge with ethical formation and entrepreneurial leadership. All ULC academic offerings follow the Licence-Master-Doctorat (LMD) system, ensuring international compatibility and quality assurance.1
Undergraduate Education
ULC is structured into five core faculties, each committed to high-quality teaching, applied research, and community service 2:
1. Faculty of Agronomic and Veterinary Sciences (FSAV)
ULC’s FSAV aims to be a regional center of excellence (Magis) for innovative and sustainable agriculture, training engineers to manage food systems, biodiversity, and resource sustainability.1
Licence (Undergraduate)
- Agronomie Vétérinaire: A three-year program providing fundamental knowledge in agricultural and veterinary techniques.1
Professional Masters (BAC+5)
The two-year Master’s programs are strongly focused on management, innovation, and development, directly addressing national food security challenges 1:

FSAV Distinction: Graduates are trained to master both modern and traditional techniques, create and manage their own agricultural enterprises, and disseminate learned techniques to farmers and breeders in the rural environment.1
2. Faculty of Science and Technology (Engineering)
In collaboration with the Institut Catholique d’Arts et Métiers (Icam), this faculty provides general and polyvalent training in engineering sciences, focusing on industrial systems and practical leadership.1 The training is characterized by a strong investment in industrial sciences, emphasizing the combination of theory and experimentation.1
Academic Approach:
The faculty employs unique pedagogical methods to form entrepreneurial and responsible leaders 1:
- Project Pedagogy (PP): Equips the engineer with expertise in project steering—from generating a goal to implementation and capitalization.1
- Decision Pedagogy (PDD): Encourages students to become “actors in their lives and authors of their projects,” fostering critical reflection and entrepreneurial liberty.1

3. Faculty of Philosophy
Building on a history of Jesuit philosophical education dating back to 1954, the Faculty of Philosophy focuses on critical reasoning and ethical discernment.2 The faculty was aggregated with the Pontifical University of Rome in 1999.1
